My Sade love affair

I remember back when I was much younger as a child my mother would be cleaning our home and she would turn on the stereo in the living room, turn down the lights except two lamps in the living room, burn some incense and get to work. I would sit and listen to the music she played which now I'm a fan of because it makes me think of my mother and my childhood.

She would play En vogue, Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Jeniffer Holiday, andof course Sade.

My mother didn't play cassette tapes a lot but she would play record albums.

Sade became one of my faves and I remember Smooth operator would come on and my mother would make me dance with her in between her rest breaks...lol.

One of her faves she used to tell me was Pearls. We wouldn't dance to that but she would explain the lyrics and what the song meant and I never forgot them.

I love the Diamond Life Album!!!!!

This was the very first one she made back in 1984 I was only 2 at the time of it's release.
I brought this back when I was about 15/16. I saw it one day when I was in the mall and I brought it as soon as I saw the cover. It's one of may faves. Her look was so fresh to me and I took it home and played it to death. I still have the same one I brought to this day and I still love it.

Some of my fav songs on the album was..
Cherry Pie
Sally
Smooth Operator
When am I going to make a living

And just recently I've found out about 2 songs that were on her first two singles that I've been playing non stop. Back then they were still records and cassette tapes. "Should I love you" & "Love affair with life"

The Best of Sade is another....

I got this through those old CD offers they used to have where you could get those free CD's.
This was one of the ones I picked and I used to play it to death it came out in 1994. My mother used to borrow it a lot to the point where I made her send away to get her own copy...lol

This one has a lot of hits and classics that anyone can just sit play and enjoy.

I remember the Promise album as well.

This was the one my mother used to play a lot when I was younger. She would put this record on and play it all the way through.

Some of my fave songs from this album are..

Is it a crime
War of the hearts
Mr. Wrong
Tar Baby
Maureen
Tar Baby
And The Sweetest Taboo

I love Stronger than pride.

I 1st heard this back when I got a copy of the cassette tape when I was in high school.

I even think I still have the tape as well.

My faves of the album are..

Love is stronger than pride
Haunt Me
Keep Looking
Give it up
Turn my back on you
Paradise

Love Deluxe...

This album is so smooth i love this one.

It came out in 1992.

Some of my faves from this album were..

No ordinary love
Feel no pain
Bulletproof Soul
I couldn't love you more
Like a tattoo

Lovers Rock came out in 2000.
At the time I was going through a lot in my teenage life and I remember not being able to keep still when I heard she made a new album. It had been 10 years since she made another album. I recall hearing that she was living in a another country with her husband raising her children and decided to make an album.

She said that she saw no reason to sing if she didn't have anything to sing about.
A lot of people waited a long time to hear her again myself included.

My faves were...

Somebody already broke my heart
All about our love
Lover's Rock
By your side

Soldier of Love came out this you in 2010.

Now just like when Lovers Rock came out I freaked out and called my mother and told her about it.
Everyone couldn't stop talking about the album and when it was coming out.

Sadly it's not one of my faves for some reason I couldn't get into it like the others.
I just thought she might try and give us something more and I found myself longing for her classic sound.
There were a few that I liked a lot.

Even the video for Soldier of Love had me going crazy I love the video it almost looks like a high fashion video shoot. Not to mention it also told a story that went with the song. Very visual.

Soldier of Love
Baby Father
